This Will Make You Appreciate Your Local PD Even More

It has been all over the news broadcasts here in Kansas City, and posted also on Chief Corwin's blog but I want to show you myself this amazing video of what happened to two Kansas City MO Police Officers this September.

Warning: Graphic gun play and a person getting shot (off camera but still disturbing) are in this video. May not be suitable for all audiences.

When you first start the video, you are riding along with one cop who is driving to a report of a vehicle into a pole in a residential area. (Don't turn up your volume, BTW, there is no audio.) The officer turns his cruiser into a park in the area. You are then taken inside a second officer's cruiser. He drives along the street, then sees the wrecked dark SUV, turns around and comes behind the first officer in the park. When the second officer gets out of the car, the audio is activated and this is when you will be able to hear what is happening.

I am posting this video to remind us once again how dangerous police work is. Since the killing of the four officers in Washington state happened, at least three more officers have been killed in the line of duty. One was killed sitting in his cruiser waiting for back up to enter the scene of a call.

I don't want to comment too extensively on the video itself; I want you to be a little bit surprised at how a simple call on a pleasant early fall evening can turn into something else entirely.

I hope Dean stopped and bought a lottery ticket on the way home, he is one lucky guy.

It looks like this turned out ok.

It did turn out OK; neither officer was injured. It's a good thing the bad guy was a bad shot.

Poor Dean is getting roasted in the local blogosphere for being overweight.

Thanks for the comment

Dear The Observer,
This is the clearest version of the videos I have seen. Thanks for finding the one that explains it the best.

So I know who Dean is now. Is he somebody you know? If so, I hope you pass on my best wishes and congrats! Also to his assist!

Sincerely,
Ann T.

I don't know the officers personally; they are South Zone officers and my neighborhood is in that district. I have probably seen them both "around" I picked up Dean from the audio; his assist asked him at one point if he was all right. I would be honored to know the officers as friends.

Thanks for reading.
