Hot Around Here

The weather has been very hot here in the plains for about a week now, and I am ready to be done with it. This week, every time I have visited the Kansas City Star's website, it has had this ugly yellow banner across the top--see the screen shot. The glum news is that this isn't even accurate; our excessive heat warning goes til Saturday at 9:00 pm. We are also under a severe thunderstorm watch until 11:00 pm tonight. Note the temp near the mast head--102 degrees.

This is not my favorite time of year anyway. Hot, muggy days and nights, but with shortening amounts of light--this time of year I find it hard to maintain energy. It is helpful to know this, even if it means I'm counting the days until the weather becomes crisper. Some years I manage to get away to Vermont around this time, but not this year.

Everyone stay cool and dry, and have a nice weekend!

At least you dont have to light the stove!! You could probably cook an egg out on the sidewalk! Just pick the rocks out. lol

Here's hoping your hotspell breaks soon. Just think, 85 will feel cool when it does! Stay cooooooooooool until then!

I have been dodging raindrops, thunder and lightening all evening! But it is still humid and swampy.

The McDonald's I'm sitting in was just inundated with several people who were in a MVC, and fire fighters and paramedics and police, plus two groups. Makes for awesome people watching.

Very vivid lightening right now, along with very vivid red and blue lights.

Weather relief is coming Sunday. The folks in the crash will probably feel it all tomorrow. One guy's pretty dinged, but refusing transport.

Just a quiet Friday night in the big town!

PeeDee's onto something here...

You can always stay INSIDE and watch the driveway BUBBLE UP.

Or with a sharp enough eye, you can see car dashborads melt...

Just stay cool, and keep the (soft)lemonade nearby.

:)

Have a great Sunday.

(LOL...word verif. was "UNDED"...go figure - ROFL)

Happy day! Very moderate and pleasant this Sunday. The wind had an entirely different feel to it. No more involuntary cooking.

The weather wonks think that we are done with the 100s--we'll probably hit some 90s though again before fall. Weather records show that 100 degrees was achieved as late as the last week of September tho, so like Yogi said:

Dear The Observer,
our weather has been cockamamie all summer. Big darn heat wave. Then moderate but muggy 70's. I don't get it.

But I'm with you about August. There is no place to go with sufficient coolness and if there was, how much energy to get there?

Somebody was too listless to change the banner on the paper.

LOL,
Ann T.

Indeed! LOL!

Late Saturday night, the banner was gone! Looked so much better! On the other hand, Alex Rodrigrez hit three home runs against the hometown 9 that night. That was ugly.

Thanks for stopping by!
