2010 Homicides: November

It's been tough to see this little project through, I'll admit. Doing it on MLK's birthday is especially dreary--to be honest it feels as if we have failed--failed Dr. King and the dream. When a young Black boy tells a potential mentor that his goal is to live to the age of twenty--that feels like failure.

Fannie Delia Young, 67--Timothy Martin, 27--Lionel Pierson, 18--Ivan J Miller, 29

Ms. Young and Mr. Miller was found dead under suspicious circumstances, Mr. Martin and Mr. Pierson were killed by gunfire.

Dear The Observer,
Yes, it is a sobering number of deaths. And to think how the dream might be derailed is also very troubling and sad.

Still, it can't be all for nothing if we are still talking about it. If we are still trying to find it.

And that just sounds like not enough.

My condolences to the family and friends of Fannie, Timothy, Lionel, and Ivan.

Sincerely,
Ann T. Hathaway

The subject of race leaves me very sad.

All kinds of foreigners have come to this country, and continue to come. Each group seems to leave the ancestors of Black slaves behind, even those who arrive on these shores from Africa.

What can we do to make the dream viable for all?
