Wayside Waifs Wednesday

Did you know that it is harder for shelters to find homes for black dogs and cats? No one I've talked to has a definitive reason for this but it continues to hold true. This week's featured animals both happen to be black. Above is Digit. She is a lab mix, about one year old. As you can see from the photo, she had to have a back leg amputated due to trauma. Not that you can tell, she plays, retrieves, and is full of energy. She will need a fairly high energy home due to being young and full of spunk.
This is Julius. He is a three year old neutered male. He is active and playful. He seemed a little shy around people and cats while roaming the cat area at the shelter, but it was his first day out and about. He came in to the shelter with another cat, but his friend got adopted. So he is now looking for a good home.

Wayside Waifs is located at 3901 Martha Truman Road in Kansas City, Missouri. The shelter's hours are Wednesday thru Friday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. ; Saturday and Sunday 12 noon to 6 p.m. The shelter is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
